John Davis, MEEP's coordinator at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), gave a presentation about MEEP on 29 June 2020 at 8:30-9:00h (GMT+2) online at ICS International Conference on Supercomputing 2020. The presentation was part of the Workshop on RISC-V and OpenPOWER.
The talk offered a walkthrough on the project and how the first research project to be associated with a supercomputer procurement is being developed by the use of FPGAs to develop a pre-silicon validation and software development vehicle. Subsequently, it was explained how MEEP is a unique infrastructure being built at the BSC to help support the hardware and software development for RISC-V based systems and a combination of host servers and many FPGAs (up to 8 per server) used to emulate an HPC system. Finally, the presentation delved into how MEEP enables system-level software development and testing and how this platform can be the basis for many other research projects focused on CPU and accelerator design.
